The gut microbiome — the trillions of microorganisms living in the digestive tract — has become a major focus in recovery and metabolic health research. The gut microbiome interacts closely with the immune system, and disruptions to microbial diversity (often called dysbiosis) have been associated with increased systemic inflammation in multiple studies.
